In Atizapán (State of Mexico) is Cuadra San Cristóbal, the residence designed by Luis Barragán that will open its doors to the public in October 2025. It will become a cultural center where works by national and international artists will be exhibited.
The idea is that visitors can appreciate this work of the Mexican architect, in addition to promoting artistic dissemination. This was announced by architect Fernando Romero, who heads the foundation that has been protecting the Cuadra since 2017.
The project will include a permanent exhibition on Barragán’s career. It will display some models that reveal his architectural evolution. Also, there will be a collection of design pieces that belongs to the Fernando Romero Foundation, around 2 thousand works!
There will be a library, cafeteria, souvenir store and a hall for events. Of course, there will be all kinds of activities and artistic presentations. There will even be an award ceremony every October to recognize the best in design, architecture and cinema.
According to Reforma, the public will be able to see the new project in October 2025.
What you should know about the Cuadra de Luis Barragán, before visiting it
Let’s remember that this splendid space has stables, a barn, meadows, a monumental fountain, among other attractions. The courtyard with a pool is one of the most attractive areas of this property, which was completed in 1968.
The work belongs to the Los Clubes subdivision; its objective was to give it a country vibe and give identity to this space. It should be noted that the composition is inspired by the rural haciendas of Mexico and influenced by modern art.
We can’t wait to see everything that will be in Cuadra de San Cristóbal and continue contemplating the legacy of Luis Barragán. Save the date and organize everything to be one of the first people to get to know the new project.
