If you grew up cheering for every goal in front of the TV and ever dreamed of pulling off the famous “Tiger Shot,” you’ll be happy to know that a Captain Tsubasa-themed restaurant has finally arrived in Mexico City. It’s a pop-up created for true lovers of anime, soccer, and Asian food.
This project is an official collaboration with Captain Tsubasa, brought to you by Yuta, a renowned Japanese chef (content creator at @cocina_japonesa_yuta) who already operates restaurants in Guadalajara and Querétaro under concepts such as Ebisumaru Ramen.
Since it’s a pop-up, Tsubasa Ramen will be available only for a short time. The space is designed to immerse you in the nostalgia of the series—so much so that the decor will make you feel like you’re about to eat in the locker rooms.
If you want to organize a get-together with your friends, the location is Tlacoquemecatl 47 in the Valle neighborhood, and it’s open from 1:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Tuesday through Sunday.
A championship-worthy menu
The menu stands out for offering authentic Japanese ramen, but the flavor lineup goes far beyond that. For starters, you can order classic snacks like fried or grilled gyoza, takoyaki, karaage, or edamame. For the main course, you can choose between a delicious yakimeshi, chashu donburi, or traditional curry rice. However, the real stars are the themed dishes, notably the incredible steamed buns shaped like sweaters, with flavors ranging from matcha and chocolate to Biscoff and vanilla.
To quench your thirst, the menu features exclusive drinks inspired by your favorite players, such as Tsubasa Blue (ramune soda with lychee), Misaki Green, Wakabayashi Red, Hyuga Black, and Matsuyama Yellow.
