One of the spaces associated with Frida Kahlo and Diego Rivera will take on a completely different look after dark! For six nights in October, you can visit the courtyards of the Diego Rivera and Frida Kahlo House-Museum for free and admire its famous illuminated architecture.
It is called “La luz que habita,” a light installation that will transform the studio homes of Diego Rivera and Frida Kahlo, as well as Casa O’Gorman, highlighting the forms, transparencies, and spaces that characterize the architectural work of Juan O’Gorman.
The experience will feature a free Night Tour from October 5 through 9 and on October 11, from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
This is what “La luz que habita” will be like
The installation was created by Birot Lighting and is designed to change the perception of the architectural complex at night without visually altering the buildings during the day.
During these days, you can stroll through the courtyards and admire, under new lighting, one of the most representative examples of functionalist architecture in Mexico.
The studio houses were designed by Juan O’Gorman in 1931, commissioned by Diego Rivera. Construction was completed in 1932, and Frida Kahlo and Diego Rivera began living there in 1934. One of their most recognizable features is the bridge connecting the two buildings via their rooftops.
There will be more nights to see it

If you’re unable to visit *La luz que habita* in October, there will be other opportunities. INBAL announced that starting in November, on the second Wednesday of each month, the museum will have extended hours so visitors can experience the installation, accompanied by various activities.
The schedules and programs for these upcoming events are to be confirmed.
