Get your glasses ready and get in the mood! For the first time, Toluca will host the Tierra Mezcal Fest, an incredible cultural festival dedicated entirely to Mexican mezcal.
Mark your calendars: the event is on August 22 and 23, 2026, at the iconic Centro Tolzú (located at Av. Miguel Hidalgo Oriente 201, at the corner of Av. Ignacio López Rayón, Santa Clara), from 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
If you want to secure your spot, advance tickets are 60 pesos, and tickets at the box office will cost 80 pesos; and keep in mind, kids under 12 get in free!
This major event will bring together more than 40 mezcal producers from various regions of Mexico. During your visit, you’ll be able to enjoy the “Journey of the Agave,” a tour featuring four themed stations: Mezcal-Making Mexico, The Transformation of Mezcal, The Guardians of Mezcal, and The Sensory Experience. Upon arrival, you’ll receive a Tierra Mezcal Passport, and if you manage to complete it by visiting all the stations, you’ll be able to enter the festival’s raffle!
Master mezcal makers and regional dance as the program’s highlights
On Saturday, August 22, the event kicks off at 11:00 a.m. with the Agave Ceremony, a tribute to the producing communities and the knowledge passed down from generation to generation. In addition, starting at 1:00 p.m. and every two hours thereafter, the Los Guardianes del Mezcal station will feature live sessions with master mezcal makers sharing stories about their communities and the secrets of their craft. To liven up the weekend, there will be a Regional Dance Competition on both days starting at 12:00 p.m. (also every two hours), where the audience can vote for their favorite folk dance group.
Tastings, workshops, and cuisine
There’s something for everyone here! The program features guided tastings, delicious pairings, and creative workshops, such as the must-see jicarita painting workshop. You can also explore a mini-exhibition to learn more about the mezcal-producing states and the varieties of agave grown in our country. It’s a perfect event for all ages, with no restrictions for families with children.
So now you know—gather your family or friends and don’t miss out on this unmissable first edition of the Tierra Mezcal Fest.
