If you’re the type who enjoys getting up early to embark on epic adventures, get ready—because taking a sunrise tour of the Tula Archaeological Zone in Hidalgo is just what you need to kick off your weekend with plenty of energy and a healthy dose of history.
The INAH has organized the experience “The Dawn of the Warriors: Toltec Harmony and World Cup Passion.” What is it about? It’s a tour designed to explore the Toltec civilization from the perspective of sports. As the first rays of the sun illuminate ancient Tollan, you’ll discover the mysteries of the Atlanteans, the importance of the ball game, and how the Toltecs related to the cycles of the sky and nature.
The walk covers a 1.8-kilometer route through the site’s most iconic areas. The event will take place on Saturdays from June 11 to July 18, 2026, at a time for true early risers: from 5:00 a.m. to 8:00 a.m. General admission costs $210.00, but there is a 50% discount for Mexican citizens and foreign residents who present valid official identification.

To make the most of your experience, keep these recommendations in mind: wear comfortable clothing, closed-toe shoes with non-slip soles, and bring a hydrating drink. Don’t forget to protect yourself from the sun with a hat or sunscreen. But don’t take the weather for granted either, so pack a raincoat, water-repellent clothing, or an umbrella in case the rain decides to make an appearance. Oh, and essentials: mosquito repellent and allergy medication (for bites or pollen). Of course, always respect the area’s rules and regulations.
