Will the UNAM undergraduate admissions exam be repeated? On the morning of Friday, July 31, the National Autonomous University of Mexico(UNAM) announced that a review exam will be administered; however, it will not apply to all applicants.
This decision was made after irregularities were detected in at least 2% of the exams submitted online for the 2026 admissions cycle. The Technical Commission outlined several important points regarding this process.

At a press conference, it was explained that a re-examination will be administered in person. Applicants who had already been admitted to UNAM in this admissions cycle will be summoned, as well as those who achieved “a number of correct answers equal to or greater than the minimum number of correct answers required for admission between 2021 and 2026 to the same program, campus, and modality,” explained Dr. Eduardo Barzana García, Chair of the Technical Commission for the Review of the 2026 Undergraduate Admissions Process.
Although no information was provided on when this exam will be administered or how students will be notified, it was stated that the process will take place as soon as possible in order to adhere to UNAM’s academic calendar.
It was also explained that admission spots will be awarded based on the results of the re-examination.
“This is not a new exam; it is a review exam to ensure that the accepted candidates truly made an effort and did not receive any assistance that gave them an advantage over the other applicants,” explained Leonardo Lomelí, UNAM’s rector.
