In August 2026, UNAM inaugurated the first Comprehensive Menstrual Health Clinic, which offers medical care for pain and conditions related to menstruation, as well as sexual health services and psychological support, among other services.
The General Directorate of Health Care (DGAS) has opened the doors to this new space, which aims to ensure that menstruation is no longer a barrier to full development and to build a culture of equality.
If you experience dysmenorrhea (pain during menstruation), chronic pelvic pain, heavy bleeding, extreme fatigue or fainting, nausea, vomiting, or dizziness—or if the pain simply interferes with your daily activities—it’s time to seek professional guidance.
To receive support, the process is very simple. First, you must identify your symptoms and then request an appointment for a preliminary consultation. There, you’ll undergo an initial evaluation and, if necessary, be referred for specialized treatment and follow-up care.
At this center, you’ll find a multidisciplinary team of experts in medicine, nursing, nutrition, psychology, physical therapy, and social work. Please note that the service is free and is intended for the university community.
