Surely you already know that during January and February we will have the opportunity to see the first alignment of planets of 2025. This astronomical event will be visible to the naked eye, but how does it sound to see it with telescopes, an outdoor cinema and a talk? We tell you about what the alignment of planets will look like at Universum.
The first thing you should know is that from January 18 until February 28, 2025 , six planets will be aligned in the night sky. And part of this spectacle will be visible to the naked eye!
It is important to remember that this alignment is only visual. If we could observe the Solar System from outside, we would see that each planet follows its own orbit around the Sun. So, although they appear to be together in the sky, they are actually together but not aligned.
Mars, Jupiter, Venus, Saturn, Uranus and Neptune will be positioned in the same region of the sky, so this “alignment of planets” is 100% an optical illusion generated by the orbits of the planets.
What will there be to see the alignment of planets at Universum?
Come and see the alignment of planets at Universum! On Thursday, January 23 from 5:30 pm to 8:30 pm you can enjoy a free event on the Esplanade of Universum.
There will be a talk at 17:30 hours in which Dr. Alejandro Farah will explain more about this astronomical event, and then enjoy an outdoor film screening that will begin at 18:00 hours.
We recommend you to bring your yoga mat to enjoy the movie Interstellar (2014). Here you will get free popcorn!
And to end the incredible event, there will be telescope observation from 18:00 to 20:30 hours. Here you will be able to see through telescopes and screens the different planets of the Solar System that will be aligned in the night sky.
