Seeing a ballet performance live is something that must be experienced firsthand: the synchronized pliés, the tutus following the rhythm of the music, and the elegance of each movement. But if we add to that an infinite number of points of light covering the costumes, the result is something completely magical: Ballet of Lights CDMX.
Experience Sleeping Beauty like never before, performed by a professional group of ballet dancers. All of them covered in lights, combining modernity with classical choreography and traditional staging at the La Salle San Fernando Theater. A unique opportunity that you can experience on selected dates over the coming months.
What Ballet of Lights shows are currently playing in Mexico City?
Sleeping Beauty
The story of Sleeping Beauty, inspired by ancient European tales such as that of Charles Perrault, tells how Princess Aurora falls under a curse that plunges her into a 100-year sleep after pricking her finger on a spindle. In Tchaikovsky’s ballet, that long silence is transformed into music: fairies, courtiers, and magical visions accompany the passage of time until a prince manages to wake the princess with a kiss.
What is Ballet of Lights?
Ballet of Lights celebrates the long and storied tradition of ballet. This evolution over the centuries is best exemplified in this unique show, where classical music and choreography are blended with technology, creating a high-caliber performance. By using colored lights woven into the dancers’ costumes, the show adds a dynamic element that is perfect for all audiences.
Reimagining a ballet classic, you won’t want to miss this impressive dance and light show. Ballet of Lights will take place on select dates over the coming months at the Teatro La Salle San Fernando. Within each zone, seats are assigned on a first-come, first-served basis, and doors open 30 minutes before the start of the show.
