The Barter Market will come to Xochimilco this weekend. It is a program that seeks to promote recycling and the correct separation of waste. Each day you can exchange different types of waste for food or plants. We tell you more about it.
The first thing you should know is that this program is held on the second Sunday of each month. In each edition, the venue changes. This April 13 the appointment will be in the parking lot of the Ecological Park of Xochimilco. You can go from 8:00 am to 1:00 pm.
What can I bring to the Barter Market in Xochimilco?
There are things you can bring and others you can’t, but don’t worry because we bring you all the information you need to know. The Secretary of the Environment of Mexico City (Sedema) detailed through a press release that you can bring waste such as:
- Aluminum and iron cans
- Glass bottles
- Plastic (PET and HDPE)
- Paper
- Cardboard
- Tetrapack
- Used cooking oil
- Electrical waste
- Electronic waste
Each person can bring between 1 and 5 kilos of waste, which can be exchanged for green points. Once you have your points you can exchange them for different products, including vegetables, food or plants. Take the plunge this weekend.
It is important to mention that you will NOT be able to bring:
- Light bulbs
- Clothing
- Caps and lids
- Unicel
- Toys
- Egg cartons
- Bulky waste
