If you’ve never visited Michoacán during the Day of the Dead season, the Night of the Dead 2026 is the perfect opportunity to finally do so. This year’s program includes a show on the shores of the famous Lake Pátzcuaro, specifically at the Urandén Springs, where the Animecha Kejtsïtakua is celebrated.
The Path of the Souls is a nighttime tour during which you’ll see floating altars set up on canoes lit by candles and filled with cempasúchil flowers. Fishermen and locals guide the way. The spectacle ends with Andangútakua (duck hunt) and a moving reenactment of the offering to the souls.
Performances will take place on October 23, 24, 25, and 30, and November 2, at 7:00 p.m. and 8:30 p.m.
On the weekend of October 31 and November 1, there will be three performances (7:00 p.m., 8:30 p.m., and 10:00 p.m.). On these two special days, there will also be a traditional music and dance festival at the Urandén Tourist Rest Stop starting at 7:00 p.m., and you can take canoe tours from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Keep the cost in mind: admission is $50 per person, and parking costs $30.
