1. Pan de muerto tasting at the Kaluz Museum
The Day of the Dead season has begun with a unique festival at Museo Kaluz! During October 19 and 20, you can taste recipes from nine different bakeries and vote for your favorite pan de muerto of 2024. With your taster passport, you’ll enjoy all the tastings at no additional cost and have access to the museum’s exhibits.

2. Zombie March

Zombies will take to the streets of Mexico City to fill them with terror! The fun march is a contingent that you can join with your most terrifying costume. To be part you don’t need to pay, however, you must present a donation such as a kilo of rice or beans, which will be donated. 🧟

3. Mega Catrinas Procession

This 2024 we will see catrinas parade on Paseo de la Reforma; impressive costumes pay homage to the traditions of the Day of the Dead. Color, dance and music come to commemorate those who are no longer on this plane. We remind you that you can show off your best costume in this event, plus in each edition there are makeup artists who can turn you into a whole skull. 💀

4. Pan de Muerto and Chocolate Festival
We only try this bread once a year, so we have to make the most of it. Luckily, the Pan de Muerto y Chocolate Festival confirmed that this 2024 it will conquer you with different versions of bread and, of course, lots of hot chocolate. You’ll find more than 100 exhibitors and many options to enjoy! 🍫

5. Monumental Alebrijes Parade
During the Day of the Dead season in Mexico City there are plenty of activities to enjoy with children or with the family. One of them is the parade of giant alebrijes; pieces up to 2.60 meters high that fill Paseo de la Reforma with colors. These works are made by Mexican artisans and the most popular ones win a monetary prize. The parade will be on October 19 and the pieces will remain on this avenue until November 3. 🐲

6. Megaofrenda at UNAM
The Mexican tradition of placing ofrendas is one of the most awaited on the Day of the Dead. Among all of them, UNAM’s shines brightly.
For this year, it is confirmed that it will pay tribute to the best of Mexican cinema and the people who have made it possible. The official title is “Mexico seen through the lens“.
The call is now open for the entire university community to participate.

7. Day of the Dead concert by candlelight.
Candlelight concerts have a fabulous program to celebrate Day of the Dead by the hand of Apothic Wines. Remember your loved ones and transport yourself to Mictlán with a series of iconic seasonal songs, from Andrés Henestrosa’s traditional songs such as “La Llorona” and “La Martiniana” to “Amor Eterno” by our beloved Juanga and “Mis Muertos” by Julieta Venegas.
While you listen to this emotional concert, you will be able to taste one of the three Apothic Wines wine labels and toast to those who have already gone before us.

9. Coco Concert
This Day of the Dead 2024 the show of Coco returns to the Plaza de Toros of the CDMX. Artists commemorate this holiday, this time Camila Fernández, Mario Bautista, Natalia Lafourcade and Sofia Garza will perform songs from the film. 🎺

10. Museum of Popular Art
Among the exhibitions that you will be able to appreciate during the Day of the Dead is the one at MAP. It is a small exhibition in the “Popular Art and the Sacred” room with skulls, catrinas, altars and pieces of cardboard and clay. Ideal to get to know it during this season. 💀

11. Night of legends in Xochimilco
The Isla de las Muñecas is one of the most mysterious (and creepy!) places in Xochimilco and all of CDMX.

Enjoy the candlelighting and resist the fear of listening to the narration of gloomy legends in the voice of characters from beyond the grave… don’t be scared, they are actors in costume! 🤭

12. La Llorona

We don’t stop with Day of the Dead activities in CDMX! One of them is the Coffee and Chocolate Fest to be held at the National Museum of Popular Cultures. 15. Mexicráneos
Don’t miss your photo with the giant skulls! Mexicráneos 2024 is already at the Bicentennial Park. This year, 12 pieces are premiering; their designs are inspired by the nature of the park, so a colorful and very original exhibition awaits you.
In addition to this year’s works, you will see the skulls from previous editions. Some are located next to the basketball court and others surround the artificial lake. 💀

16. Day of the Dead Race
Put on your sneakers and join this race for the Day of the Dead. You’ll run 5 kilometers on Paseo de la Reforma and registrations are already available on Emoción Deportiva’s website. You’ll be happy to know that it’s a night event!

17. Valle de Catrinas 2024
If you’re looking for Day of the Dead activities near CDMX, head to Puebla. In the municipality of Atlixco, everything is ready for the Valley of Catrinas 2024. It is a tour with monumental catrinas; the designs will represent historical characters of Mexico. Take into account that the pieces will be located in different points of the municipality.

19. Festival de la Luz y de la Vida (Festival of Light and Life)
If this Day of the Dead you are planning to escape from CDMX, this festival cannot be missing in your list of activities. It takes place in the lagoon of Chignahuapan, Puebla, and is an event that represents a pre-Hispanic ritual. All amidst pyrotechnics, music and torchlight parade.
Also, there is sale of pan de muerto, marble granite mat exhibition, catrinas contest and much more. the function on November 1 is free!

20. Artisan Festival Coffee, Chocolate and Pan de Muerto (Bread of the Dead)
