How much will you receive as a year-end bonus this year? If you’re a pensioner, we’ll explain how to calculate your 2026 IMSS or ISSSTE year-end bonus using simple calculations and examples so you’ll know how much you’re entitled to.
The first thing you should know is that both institutions have different rules. Furthermore, not all pensioners receive this benefit, as it depends on the plan under which their pension was granted.
How do you calculate the 2026 IMSS Christmas bonus?
The IMSS schedules the payment of the Christmas bonus for November. If you are receiving a pension for unemployment in old age or old-age pension under the Social Security Law of 1973, you are entitled to a Christmas bonus equivalent to one month’s payment of your base pension, excluding family allowances and assistance benefits.
Doing the math is very easy! If your monthly base pension is $8,000, your year-end bonus will also be $8,000.
Important: Those who receive a pension for unemployment or old age under IMSS Law 97 are not entitled to this annual bonus. Other types of pensions may have different conditions.
ISSSTE 2026 Bonus: Here’s How to Calculate How Much You’ll Receive
For ISSSTE, the first installment is scheduled for the first half of November. And for pensioners whose plan provides for a 40-day year-end bonus, the process is different.
All you need to do is divide your monthly pension by 30 and multiply the result by 40.
For example, if you receive $9,000 per month:
Step 1: $9,000 ÷ 30 = $300 per day.
Step 2: $300 × 40 = $12,000 annual bonus.
These amounts are for guidance only and may vary depending on the plan and the applicable calculation basis.
