The UAM night race is ready to challenge Mexico City’s running enthusiasts with a unique experience: staying on the move all night long. It’s called “12 Hours: A Night with the UAM, ” a free event that will test the physical and mental endurance of those who dare to participate.
Organized by the Autonomous Metropolitan University in collaboration with the Mexico City Sports Institute, this event invites people of all ages and fitness levels to run for 12 continuous hours at one of Xochimilco’s most iconic sports venues.
The goal isn’t to finish first, but to cover as many kilometers as possible while enjoying a unique night under the stars.
Here’s what the UAM night race in Cuemanco will be like
Unlike traditional 5- or 10-kilometer races, the UAM night race features an endurance format in which each participant decides their own pace and strategy to stay active throughout the entire event.
The event is open to the general public, so you don’t need to be part of the university community to take on the challenge. The goal is to promote physical activity, social interaction, and the use of the city’s sports facilities through an experience that’s different from conventional competitions.
In addition to being a personal challenge, the event will bring together runners seeking to push their own limits in a safe and supportive environment.
What You Need to Know to Participate
The event will take place at the “Virgilio Uribe” Olympic Rowing and Canoeing Course, located in the Cuemanco area—a venue that, for an entire night, will become the gathering place for those who want to see just how far they can go.
Although registration is free, spaces are limited, so it’s recommended to sign up in advance. You can also consult the official announcement for requirements, recommendations, and participation details.
