The Day of the Dead season in Mexico City now has one of its most anticipated events confirmed. The Calaveritas Run 2026 is back, and registration is now open for anyone who wants to participate in this sporting event that combines running, Mexican tradition, and an atmosphere filled with catrinas.
The event will take place on November 1, 2026, when hundreds of runners will take to the streets and trails of Chapultepec to experience a night race that has become a tradition for many people. In addition to the adult categories, there will also be children’s races so that the whole family can join in the celebration.
A night race inspired by the Day of the Dead
What sets the Calaveritas Run apart from other races is its theme, inspired by one of Mexico’s most iconic celebrations. During the event, it’s common to see participants dressed up in catrina makeup, wearing Day of the Dead -themed accessories , and donning costumes that transform the course into an authentic nighttime festival.
Runners can choose between 5K and 10K distances, while younger participants will have special categories designed for their age groups. The race will start and finish at the Los Pinos Cultural Complex, one of the city’s most important cultural venues.
