This natural spectacle is about to begin! If you’re looking for a magical experience, you have to attend the 2026 International Firefly Festival, which will take place in the municipalities of Amecameca, Ecatzingo, and Tlalmanalco—all part of the Valley of the Volcanoes.
The festival will take place on July 24, 25, and 26. During this time, 27 ecotourism parks from these regions will participate, offering guided tours and other experiences in a designated pavilion within the festival.
This year, the birdwatching activities will be complemented by an arts program featuring concerts, dance, theater, workshops, sports, and food and craft pavilions. The State of Mexico Symphony Orchestra, the Mexiquense Philharmonic Orchestra, and the Valle de los Volcanes Folk Dance Company are just a few of the talents featured in the program. These activities will take place at the Amecameca Sports Complex.
Keep in mind that this year marks the festival’s sixth edition, and as part of the program, a traditional medicine pavilion will make its debut. Additionally, the guest country will be India, while the state of honor will be none other than Hidalgo.
