One of the most colorful exhibitions in the Historic Center has finally announced this year’s edition: we’re talking about the 2026 Mexican Piñata Exhibition at the MAP!
The Museum of Popular Art has already announced its 20th Mexican Piñata Contest; this time, the competition has a very special theme, as it celebrates 200 years of Mexico-France relations. Participating artisans can draw inspiration from monuments, history, famous figures, and even the cuisine of both countries to create their dazzling works.
As tradition dictates, the pieces in the competition must be built around a clay pot and lined with classic materials such as newspaper, tissue paper, or crepe paper. No plastics or metallic materials allowed!
The exciting awards ceremony will take place on Saturday, November 7, and the prizes sound very tempting. First place will win 20,000 pesos, second place 15,000, and third place 10,000. In addition, there will be up to ten honorable mentions, each with a prize of 2,000 pesos.
Starting on the day of the awards ceremony (November 7), the exhibition will remain in the museum’s courtyard through December 13.
