If you are looking for something different and connected to ancestral traditions, this event in the north of the city may interest you. At FARO Azcapotzalco Xochikalli, they will celebrate the 8th anniversary of Temazcal Xochikalli with a weekend dedicated to traditional medicine, community knowledge, and healing.
The best part is that there will be a free temazcal in Mexico City, as well as workshops, talks, and experiences related to the Mesoamerican worldview.
The event will take place on Saturday, March 14, and Sunday, March 15, from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., and all activities will be free of charge.
During the event, you can learn about traditional practices that are part of Mexico’s cultural heritage, from energy cleansing to the medicinal use of plants.
Herbalism workshops, cleansing ceremonies, and healing activities.
The anniversary program includes various activities focused on holistic well-being. Saturday will begin with a ceremonial opening, followed by a talk on traditional medicine and the Mesoamerican worldview.
Later, there will be a workshop on the ritual use of bouquets, where you will learn how they are made and used in energy cleansing. There will also be a space for cleansing with bouquets and eggs, guided by guest therapists.
Another highlight will be the practical herbalism workshop, where you will learn about some protective, digestive, and relaxing plants, as well as how to prepare them for everyday well-being.
On the same day, there will also be massages and body adjustments, energy harmonization sessions with ancestral instruments such as conch shells, rattles, and drums, and a circle of words and music to close the day.
Anniversary temazcal and community activities
On Sunday, there will be an anniversary temazcal, a traditional purification ceremony that seeks to promote physical, emotional, and spiritual cleansing.
To participate, you must register online in advance, as space is limited. During registration, you must select the time slot you wish to attend, provide an emergency contact, and report any medical conditions that may be relevant to the activity.
The second day will also include a walk through the garden beds on the grounds, a workshop on rebozo adjustment, and a talk on the history and symbolism of the temazcal as medicine for the body and spirit.
The event will be held at FARO Azcapotzalco Xochikalli, located at Cultura Norte s/n, Colonia El Rosario, very close to the Rosario Metro station. This is an opportunity to learn about traditional medicine and enjoy a community experience without leaving the city.
