This Friday morning it was officially announced that the concession that a company had over Parque Bicentenario was withdrawn, a space that will now be under the administration of the federal Ministry of Culture.
In a press conference, Claudia Curiel de Icaza, head of said agency, explained that this park has already been recovered. She also gave a preview of what will happen to the site.
Bicentennial Park concession withdrawn, what will happen now?
The official explained that the park will continue to be for public use. In the next month an inventory of the site will be made and work will be done with other agencies, including Semarnat, due to the ecosystems found there.
The park, which measures 55 hectares, will be recovered in a mixed scheme. “Promoters, promoters under the Civil Protection standard and all the necessary guidelines, will be able to operate in coordination with the Ministry of Culture,” he explained. What will happen in this space will be detailed in depth at a later date.
However, you should know that it will continue to operate as a park but under a different scheme. In addition, now it will not be under the administration of a private company but of Mexico’s Ministry of Culture.
It is worth mentioning that it was decided to withdraw the concession after photographers Berenice and Miguel died while covering the Ceremonia 2025 Festival last Saturday, April 5, 2025.
