If you have books you’ve already read that are just gathering dust, this is the perfect plan for you. The book swap is coming to the Colegio de San Ildefonso—a perfect opportunity to swap your books and discover new stories without spending a dime.
This activity is part of the 2026 Book and Rose Festival, one of the most anticipated literary events of the year, so the atmosphere will be filled with readers and interesting titles looking for a new home.
The process is simple: you can bring up to five books per day, and for each one you’ll receive a ticket. With each ticket, you can choose another book available at the exchange. Note that tickets are only valid during the event, so you’ll have to decide right then and there which book to take home.
Rules, kids’ area, and everything you need to know
To participate in the book swap at the Colegio de San Ildefonso, your books must be in good condition: complete, without cross-outs, moisture, or visible damage. Magazines, encyclopedias, dictionaries, textbooks, promotional materials, and pirated books are not accepted.
There will also be a children’s area, where books for early childhood and for children up to 13 years old will be accepted. You can even bring additional books to donate, which will be added directly to the exchange.
The event will take place at the Colegio de San Ildefonso, one of the most iconic cultural venues in the Historic Center, ideal for putting together a full-day plan combining culture, sightseeing, and new reads.
You can easily get there by Metro, getting off at Zócalo or República de Argentina and walking a few minutes.
