If you’re already thinking about a Day of the Dead getaway near Mexico City, take note. From October 2 to November 1, in Atlixco you’ll find Catrinia, an immersive, multisensory experience that brings together performances, installations, and cuisine inspired by our favorite Mexican tradition.
The experience will take place at the Atlixco Convention Center, and one of its main attractions will be the Catrinia Parade. This show will feature its own narrative accompanied by music, mystical characters, and various visual elements.
The tour also includes the Panteón, a space inspired by Mexican traditions surrounding graves and the memory of those who have passed away, as well as the Callejón de los Muertos, which will be decorated with themed decorations.
There will be a new Ancestral Trail
Among the new features of Catrinia 2026 is the Ancestral Trail. This is a new immersive area that will combine flowers, colors, scents, and various sensory stimuli to create a pedestrian-friendly route.
This space will also connect Catrinia with another seasonal event in Atlixco: Valle de Catrinas 2026. On the Sendero Ancestral, you’ll find a second monumental catrina that will be part of that project.
In addition, there will be a “Mercado de Sabores del Más Acá,” offering seasonal cuisine and live music.
How much do Catrinia tickets cost?
The Classic ticket costs $400 and includes the parade in the general admission area, the Panteón, and video-mapping projections.
The “Preferente” ticket costs $600 and includes a reserved seating area for the parade, the Tunnel of Mictlán, the Train of Memories, the Ancestral Trail, and the Lake of Lost Souls.
Finally, the VIP package costs $800 and includes the attractions mentioned above, seats in the first two rows of the parade, exclusive dining areas, and skip-the-line access.
