Grab your calendar because we already have the date and route for the 2026 Mega Procession of the Catrinas in Mexico City. Various themed contingents will parade down Paseo de la Reforma as part of the Day of the Dead celebrations. It is a free event.
There are still several months to go before Day of the Dead 2026; however, the events and activities held during that time are planned well in advance. For example, the Mega Procession of Catrinas has already issued its call for participants.
When will the 2026 Mega Procession of Las Catrinas take place in Mexico City?
The event is scheduled for next Sunday, October 25, on Paseo de la Reforma, according to information from the event’s official website. As in previous years, theprocession will go from the Angel of Independence to the Zócalo in Mexico City. It will pass through streets such as Reforma, Av. Juárez, and 5 de Mayo. You can watch the event from any point along the route.
The Mega Procession will begin at 6:00 p.m. It is expected to arrive at the Zócalo at 8:30 p.m. It is an evening event, so don’t forget to dress warmly and wear comfortable shoes. We also recommend arriving early to get a good spot.
Every year, different themed contingents parade through the streets. In 2026, you’ll see pre-Hispanic Catrinas, classic Catrinas, circus performers, cyclists, theater performers, and even Catrinas wearing luminous masks. It’s a colorful event that aims to preserve the traditions of the Day of the Dead. You can sign up for the contingent of your choice on the event’s official website.
It’s important to note that the Mega Procession of Catrinas and the Day of the Dead Parade are two separate events. No date has been confirmed yet for the latter.
