Check your calendar because we already have the date and route for the 2026 Mega Catrinas Procession in Mexico City. Various themed contingents will parade down Paseo de la Reforma as part of the Day of the Dead celebrations. It’s a free event.
Just like in previous years, you’ll see hundreds of catrinas dressed in costumes inspired by different themes. You can watch the event from anywhere along the route. Just plan your trip to the parade in advance, as there will be road closures in the areas surrounding the route.
When will the 2026 Mega Procession of Las Catrinas take place in Mexico City?
The event will take place next Sunday, October 25, on Paseo de la Reforma, according to information from the event’s official website. The parade route will run from the Angel of Independence to the Zócalo in Mexico City. It will pass through streets such as Reforma, Avenida Juárez, and 5 de Mayo.
The Mega Procession will begin at 6:00 p.m. It is expected to arrive at the Zócalo at 8:30 p.m. It’s an evening event, so don’t forget to dress warmly and wear comfortable shoes. We also recommend arriving early to secure a good spot.
Every year, different themed contingents march in the parade. In 2026, you’ll see pre-Hispanic catrinas, classic catrinas, circus-themed catrinas, cyclists, theater-themed catrinas, and even catrinas wearing light-up masks. It’s a colorful event that aims to preserve the traditions of the Day of the Dead.
It’s important to note that the Mega Catrinas Procession and the Day of the Dead Parade are two separate events; the latter will take place on Saturday, October 31.
