To commemorate the bicentennial of diplomatic relations between Mexico and France, Mexico City will host a cultural season featuring food festivals and performances, among other artistic activities. One of the most anticipated events is the arrival of an exhibition from the Centre Pompidou (in Paris), which will be on display at the Palacio de Bellas Artes.
The event is titled “The Great Franco-Mexican Festival” and will take place from September 1 to November 30, 2026, featuring more than 200 activities in various states across Mexico.
Meanwhile, the exhibition *The Forms of Energy: Iconic Works from the Centre Pompidou* features a selection of 40 works. Here you’ll discover how energy is a transformative concept in 20th-century art. You’ll see kinetic art and Op Art pieces spanning the 1920s through the 1980s, which utilize light, color, movement, materials, and mechanical devices. It also includes a film by French filmmaker Marcel Duchamp.
According to INBAL, the exhibition features a previously unseen work by artist Julien Creuzet, which was arranged by the Alameda Art Laboratory.
Please note that the exhibition will be on view for a very short time: from November 12 to 30, 2026. Of course, this adds to our list of must-see exhibitions in the city.
We know there are still a few months to go before we can see these works coming to us from the Centre Pompidou; however, we recommend marking it on your calendar of events in Mexico City, as it will be a major artistic event at the Palacio de Bellas Artes. Are you going to miss it?
