If you’re looking for an unusual romantic plan this February, chocolate weddings in Mexico City are shaping up to be one of the most original experiences of the season.
The MUCHO Chocolate Museum is bringing back its symbolic weddings, a ceremony designed to celebrate love from a sensory, historical, and symbolic perspective, with cacao as the star. Could it get any more romantic?
These chocolate weddings are not legal ceremonies, but symbolic rituals ideal for couples who want to celebrate their relationship in a different way: from anniversaries and engagements to vow renewals or simply a special experience for couples during the month of love.
This is what chocolate weddings in Mexico City are like

The experience begins with an entrance to the museum and a special guided tour on love and chocolate, exploring the relationship between cacao and different cultures and rituals throughout history.
Afterwards, couples participate in grinding cacao in a metate, as was done in pre-Hispanic times, to prepare their own drink.
The ritual continues with the tasting of two cocoa-based drinks served in jícaras, while listening to the recitation of the Legend of Popocatépetl and Iztaccíhuatl, one of Mexico’s most emblematic love stories.
The central moment comes with the exchange of chocolate rings, made with an original mold from La Cubana, a historic Mexican chocolate factory founded in 1872.
To conclude, each couple receives a symbolic marriage certificate as a memento of this unique experience.
