What a beauty to be able to travel around the CDMX by bike! And now you can go even further, as the construction of the new Ciclovía from the Historic Center to the Azteca Stadium has been announced.
The news was announced by the Chief of Government of the CDMX, Clara Brugada, during her government report of the first 100 days.
It was also commented that everything will be in preparation for the FIFA World Cup, which will be held in 2026. Everything will be done with the purpose of improving mobility and offering a road alternative for the capital and for tourists.
“We are preparing for the World Cup. We will install the Mexico City Committee so that the FIFA World Cup in 2026 will be the best. The World Cup will be an extraordinary opportunity to reaffirm ourselves as a cosmopolitan, vibrant, hospitable and fraternal city.It will be a World Cup with women’s protagonism, great public spaces, allied with diversity; and therefore, without homophobia or discrimination,” said Clara Brugada.
In addition to the Ciclovía from the Centro Histórico to the Azteca Stadium
The news is more than good, as it was reported that 300 kilometers of bicycle lanes will be built by 2025, thus extending the Ecobici service to all the districts of the CDMX. This will facilitate and considerably change mobility in the city.
However, the protagonist route is the bicycle lane that will go from the Historic Center to the Azteca Stadium, since 50 kil ometers of the 300 kilometers of bicycle lane construction will be covered.
This bike path will run along Calzada de Tlalpan and the same road will also be remodeled, as well as Insurgentes, Eje Central, Chapultepec and Tláhuac Avenue, improving mobility for cars as well.
