In addition to concerts dedicated to Juan Gabriel or José José, this year CDMX sounds (and a lot) of classical music. From Chopin to Beethoven, our city offers a great variety of live concerts in emblematic places of the city such as the Munal or the Chapultepec Castle. And many of them are free!
Discover here some of this season’s must-see classical music concerts.
1. Beethoven at the Cultural Center

The International Piano Festival celebrates its VIII edition with new concerts at the Nezahualcóyotl and Carlos Chávez halls, where pianists such as Daniela Liebman and Fernando Saint Martin will perform classical works during January and February. Beethoven, Rachmaninov, Liszt? timeless artists whose melodies can be heard live at very affordable prices.

2. Chopin at the Munal

Chopin’s music will cover the interior of the Museo Nacional de Arte… and you can see it for free! The renowned pianist Erick Cortés will perform live ballads and scherzos by the eternal composer. It will be the last Sunday of January in the reception hall of the Munal.

3. Flute live at Audiorama

Just as we experienced last year, this January flautist Nelly Valle returns in 2026 with a live concert at the iconic Audiorama. A musical oasis within the Chapultepec Forest that repeats as the stage for a recital, and it’s also free admission.

4. Mozart at the Chapultepec Castle
One of the most spectacular places in CDMX, a string quartet and the best-known works of two timeless figures of classical music: these are the ingredients of this concert that comes to our city under the light of thousands of candles. Organized by Candlelight, melodies by Mozart and Beethoven such as the Turkish March or Moonlight sound in a unique way.

5. Mahler at the Nezahualcóyotl Hall

Listen to Mahler’s music live at a very (very) low price? Yes, it is possible, and in one of the most emblematic halls of the city. A recital that, in addition to Blumine, also includes works by composers such as Carlos Chávez and César Franck from the hands of the Orquesta Juvenil Universitaria Eduardo Mata (OJUEM).

6. Tchaikovsky at the Palace of Fine Arts.

And Dvořák, and Ravel…. One of those concerts that get you hooked on classical music arrives at the impressive Palacio de Bellas Artes with the Orquesta Sinfónica Nacional de México. And it will be Ludwig Carrasco who will conduct such well-known works as Ravel’s Bolero or Manuel Enríquez’s Latin American Rhapsody.

7. Brahms at the Blas Galindo Auditorium

Just saying that it’s a free concert that includes a Brahms symphony would be enough to make you want to go. But if to that we add that the program includes The Poacher by César Franck, this event already becomes a direct “YES!” that will take place at the Blas Galindo Auditorium under the baton of Eduardo García Barrios.

8. Saint-Saëns at the Palace of Fine Arts.

Do you like orchestras but prefer organ concerts? This concert is your best option. The renowned organist Héctor Guzmán will perform a repertoire by names such as Saint-Saëns, Poulanc or Kuntze at the iconic Palacio de Bellas Artes. Simply not to be missed.

9. Vivaldi at El Cantoral
If Vivaldi is timeless, his Four Seasons are even more so. And now we will be able to listen to them live in a unique way: with El Cantoral covered by the light of thousands of candles. The staging to which we are accustomed to Candlelight concerts and now includes the sound of a live string quartet.

10. I Puritani at the Auditorio Nacional

A transmission that transports us directly to the Met without leaving the Auditorio Nacional. It is not in person but live, and a perfect opportunity to listen to this famous opera by Vincenzo Bellini with Spanish subtitles. If you are one of those who listen to operas on your way to work or literally in any circumstance, this event is not to be missed.
