If you are a lover of dance in its most diverse manifestations, this is a festival you won’t want to miss. The International Dance Festival, popularly known as Danzatlan, is back. we tell you about it!
The first thing you need to know is that it is the largest and most important event of the dance arts in Mexico, and this 2024 will be celebrating its seventh edition.
This project was initiated by Elisa Carrillo, the first Mexican ballerina to be recognized as prima ballerina of the Staatsballet Berlin ballet company.
More about the 7th edition
The seventh edition will be held from August 4 to 14 and will feature more than 50 activities. It will be a co-production between the Elisa Carrillo Cabrera Foundation and the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the Government of the State of Mexico.
Danzatlan will take its artistic and academic program to various municipalities, cities and towns in Mexico. It will visit thirteen locations in the State of Mexico and all with self-guided visits with free tickets!
This with the purpose of bringing dance to new spectators, as well as to students and professionals of this discipline.
This year’s edition will feature the world premiere of the play Soul in Motion led by Elisa Carrillo. There will be master classes, exhibitions, lectures, performances, dance meetings and more.

Danzatlan in CDMX
when will Danzatlan arrive in CDMX? On August 14 you can enjoy Soul in Motion at the Palace of Fine Arts.
This show will feature pianist Simon Ghraichy, prima ballerina and ballet stars Alexei Orlenco, Krasina Pavlova and Mikhail Kaniskin performing a show that fuses piano with neoclassical and contemporary dance.
On August 5 you can enjoy a master class at the Pabellón Escénico del Bosque de Chapultepec . It will be taught by New Yorker Nicholas Palmquist, choreographer of different genres and emblematic figure of Broadway.
