Let’s close the year with an astronomical spectacle not to be missed: the December 2025 star shower. We are talking about the Geminids, which we will be able to see with the naked eye. That’s right: you won’t need a telescope or binoculars.
The first thing you need to know is that this star shower is quite intense, because, according to the INAOE (National Institute of Astrophysics, Optics and Electronics) you can observe up to 120 meteors per hour.
The best thing is that you won’t need a telescope to see them, since they can be seen with the naked eye. Just pay close attention, because they pass by very fast. It is recommended to admire this star shower in areas where there is not much light pollution (we know, it is difficult in Mexico City).
When will the December meteor shower be seen?
The Geminids star shower will occur from December 4 to 17. The INAOE details that the best time to see it will be from dusk on December 13 to the early hours of December 14. It is the weekend so you can stay up late to see this astronomical spectacle that happens every year.
The UNAM (National Autonomous University of Mexico) details that this star shower comes from the asteroid (3200) Phaethon. In addition, the Geminids are distinguished by their intense colors, which range from white to green. Are you ready to see this astronomical event? Keep an eye on the sky.
