The World Cup is coming, and Azteca Stadium—or rather, Mexico City Stadium—will be in full party mode. But if you live in the Coyoacán district, you know what that means: you need to apply for your Digital Pass to drive within the “first mile” surrounding the venue!
Remember that there will be exclusive controlled access for residents. Don’t worry—free pedestrian access for you, your visitors, and workers is guaranteed, but if you’re traveling by car or motorcycle, you’ll need to register to drive within the designated area.
The neighborhoods that must have the Digital Pass for the World Cup:
The exact perimeter is bounded by four clear boundaries: Calzada de Tlalpan to the east, Periférico Sur to the south, Boulevard Gran Sur to the west, and Avenida Santa Úrsula to the north.
If you live within this quadrant in neighborhoods such as El Caracol, La Zorra, Media Luna, Joyas del Pedregal, Bosques de Tetlameya, or Cantil del Pedregal ( which will be fully surveyed), or in the designated sections of Pedregal de Santa Úrsula and Pueblo de Santa Úrsula Coapa, you will need to complete the registration process.
How do you complete this process?
Operational teams will be conducting a census, but you can also visit the permanent registration booth located at the Santa Úrsula Arts Center (CASU) Monday through Sunday from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
The Pass is completely free, and there is no limit on the number of vehicles per household; you will be given a unique, non-transferable QR code for each car or motorcycle you register.
To obtain it, you must present the original and a copy of your official ID (INE, passport, or driver’s license) and the vehicle’s current registration card to verify the make, model, color, and license plate information.
Are you a non-resident renting there? Just bring your lease agreement or a recent utility bill (electricity, water, or phone) along with your vehicle information.
When and at what time will you need to present the Digital Pass?
Please note that traffic checkpoints will begin operating between 8 and 10 hours before kickoff of each game and will be lifted 2 hours after the game ends.
If you’re ordering an Uber or DiDi or have a regular ride scheduled, plan ahead, as the ride-hailing platforms will only be allowed in before the operation begins; once controlled access is activated, only registered residents will be allowed into the first mile.
Of course, in the event of a medical or safety emergency, ambulances, fire trucks, Civil Protection, and priority medical transport have unrestricted access at all times.
Avoid last-minute rushes—gather your documents and secure your Digital Pass in these neighborhoods within the Coyoacán municipality so you can enjoy the World Cup without traffic headaches.
