You can now request taxis in Mexico City through the Uber app. This is a partnership between Uber Mexico and Mx Taxi aimed at meeting the high demand expected during the 2026 World Cup.
How can you access this service? In the Uber app, when choosing the type of ride you want, click on the option “Taxi: taxi-style vehicles at the touch of a button.”
It should be noted that the taxi drivers are not employed by Uber, but by Mx Taxi, and therefore meet that company’s safety standards.
At a press conference, Mx Taxi President Ernesto Vázquez said this partnership will have three main benefits: more rides, higher revenue, and better service for passengers.
Note: the services and operating procedures of both apps (Uber and Mx Taxi) will remain unchanged.
This service is now available!

Although the World Cup is still a few months away, you can already request taxis through the Uber app.
Remember that this Saturday, March 28, the Mexico vs. Portugal match will take place at the Mexico City Stadium (formerly Azteca Stadium), so special traffic operations will be put to the test.
Driving to the venue won’t be an option, as there will be no parking; however, RTP routes will be set up to provide free round-trip service. You can check all the details here.
This is relevant because there will be no access to ride-hailing services in areas surrounding the stadium. As an alternative, there will be pick-up and drop-off zones at specific locations that you can find here.
Plan your trip in advance. Remember that transportation in Mexico City changes during these events; take advantage of these tech-based alternatives to get around the capital safely and efficiently.
