Starting this Friday, September 27, you will be able to enter the Metro using your bank card. We tell you about the process and the cards you can use for this new payment method.
As you know, as of April 19, 2024, the magnetic ticket will no longer be used in any of the Mexico City Metro stations, thus giving way to the integrated mobility card.
However, now you will have another option: the bank card. We tell you everything you need to know about it.
How to enter the Metro with the bank card?
This option will be available in all CDMX Metro lines, except for line 12, which is still in the process of adaptation.
In order to use this payment method you need a contactless bank card. How can you know if you have one? Well, in front of it you will notice that it has an icon similar to the Wifi one.
All you have to do is bring it close to the validator at the turnstiles and that’s it. It is the same process as with the integrated mobility card.
According to a Metro statement, you will be able to use your cell phone, electronic wallets and credit or debit cards. This new payment method will be available as of September 27th, so you can use it now.
