One of Mexico’s most important architectural works will be commemorated through the plants that once inhabited it! If you love botany, architecture, and mysteries, get ready for the exhibition on the Casa Cueva designed by Juan O’Gorman, coming soon to the Jumex Museum.
From October 16, 2026, through February 7, 2027, you can enjoy the exhibition Álvaro Urbano: Helen. This project creates an immersive space that brings together memory, worlds, and time surrounding the famous Casa Cueva, considered a major landmark of modern Mexican architecture.
The exhibition, curated by artist Álvaro Urbano, intertwines the stories of three key figures: botanical illustrator Helen Fowler O’Gorman, architect Juan O’Gorman, and artist and sculptor Helen Escobedo.
As you walk through it, you’ll enter a tangible atmosphere that oscillates between an archaeological ruin and the dreamlike quality of the site’s plants. To achieve this, the exhibition draws on illustrations fromHelen Escobedo’s book *Plants and Flowers of Mexico* , as well as Juan O’Gorman’s “petromurales” (stone murals). It’s worth noting that Rosela del Bosque and Carolina Estrada García served as curators.
