Have you ever wanted to harvest edible flowers? Now you can do so in an experience that will take you to an organic farm in Tláhuac, where you’ll learn firsthand how these flowers—which are increasingly used in gastronomy—are produced.
Dalias & Julietas, a company dedicated to the organic cultivation of edible flowers in Mexico City, will open the doors to its farm for a tequio, where attendees will participate in various farm activities while learning more about this colorful project.
Learn to harvest edible flowers in Tláhuac
During the event, you’ll join Julieta in harvesting and learn how to properly cut flowers such as lavender, marigolds, dahlias, gaillardias, pincel, and roses. You’ll also learn the process for selecting the petals that will later be dried, as well as the seeds that are saved for future plantings.
In addition to getting your hands dirty, you’ll be able to tour the farm and learn how an organic farm dedicated to producing edible flowers operates—an agricultural alternative that promotes more sustainable practices within Mexico City.
The experience is designed for the whole family, so children are welcome to participate as well.
