Mexico City never ceases to amaze us with its immensity of museums which concentrates. This time we went to the Herdez Foundation museum in the Historic Center, a place where you will delve into the evolution of Mexican cuisine through three periods.
Access has a 💵 cost of $20 ($10 students) and you will be able to access the gallery the library the terrace and the interpretation center. If you want to enjoy a tasting, you will have to pay an additional $20.
But what will you see? First you should know that the tour is short; the gallery is divided into three main exhibits. The first was related to pre-Hispanic gastronomy, then colonial cuisine and later modern gastronomy. You will see utensils, learn about ingredients and representative foods.
You will be surprised by a brief collection of mugs that belonged to the Duke of Herdez. Do not hesitate to take pictures and solve your doubts with the support staff.
Tastings at the Fundación Herdez museum
On the second floor is the “performance center”. It is a space dedicated to the study of gastronomy; cooking workshops, book presentations and tastings are held. Every month you can try different preparations that are presented through social networks.

This museum has a terrace one of the favorite places of the attendees. And it has a privileged view: of the Metropolitan Cathedral and the Plaza de la Constitución! Of course you can take pictures of you and enjoy the scenery. Remember that there is no additional cost to climb here.
There is a library on gastronomy
If you’ve already made it to the Fundación Herdez museum, take a tour of its gastronomic library. It has more than 7,000 titles related to the food of Mexico and other parts of the world. To consult a book, you must present identification; you may also take 30 copies per copy. Just remember that no volume leaves the library.
This venue is located at 📍Seminario 18, Centro, Cuauhtémoc; the nearest Metro station is 🚇 Zócalo/Tenochtitlán. Remember that the hours you will be able to attend are 🕛Tuesday to Saturday from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. Guided tours are on Thursdays from 9:30 am to 11:00 am and Fridays from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm.
