The second edition of the International Festival of Lights Ixtapan will be held very close to Mexico City. This is an event in which you will mainly see monumental cantoya balloons; however, it is not the only thing that will be there. We bring you the first details of the event!
This year the event will last three days: August 15, 16 and 17. It’s right on the weekend so you can take a short break to attend. The special guests of this edition will be Brazil and Colombia.
The main attraction will be the cantoya balloons. There will be a contest in which you will see huge balloons in the sky of Ixtapan de la Sal. Here are the categories:
- Friday, August 15: balloons up to 200 sheets or six meters high will be raised.
- Saturday, August 16: you will see huge balloons of up to 8 meters in height participate
- Sunday, August 17: according to the call published by the government of Ixtapan de la Sal, this is the day when the biggest balloons will participate, measuring from 12 to 20 meters high!
What else will there be at the International Festival of Lights of Ixtapan?
Every year different artistic and cultural activities are presented during the festival. Of course there is no lack of live music. The complete program for this 2025 will be announced later, so stay tuned.
Something you can’t miss is the gastronomic pavilion where you will enjoy unmissable dishes. The best thing is that admission to the festival is free. Take advantage of the summer vacations and go with the whole family.
