1. Go to an free museum
Museums abound in the CDMX; however, it should be noted that some of them have free tickets on Sundays. Such is the case of the National Museum of History, located in Chapultepec Castle.
You can also visit the Museo del Palacio de Bellas Artes (Eje Central Lázaro Cárdenas on the corner of Avenida Juárez S/N) and the Museo de Arte Popular.
2. Take a ride on a little train
did you know that you can take a train ride on various parks in the CDMX? There are tours in the first section of Chapultepec and one in Parque de los Venados, which have different costs.
There is also a train (only for boys and girls) at the Emilio Carranza Civic Plaza (Emilio Carranza Avenue, Moctezuma first section, Venustiano Carranza district) and another one at Utopia Freedom (Río Nilo River and Reforma Avenue, Lomas de San Lorenzo, Iztapalapa). These are free of charge.
3. Discover the universe in a planetarium
In 2024 we will see a solar eclipse in Mexico it’s a good time to catch up on astronomy. In CDMX there are at least two planetariums open on weekends. In each one you can see projections about space and learn more about our universe.
- Luis Enrique Erro Planetarium wilfrido Massieu Avenue S/N, Nueva Industrial Vallejo, Gustavo A. Madero. Open from Tuesday to Sunday, from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm. Tickets to the screening are $40; while access to the constellation room is $25.
- Joaquín Gallo Planetarium is located at Miguel Laurent 133, Portales Norte, alcaldía Benito Juárez. They offer screenings on weekends at a cost of $30 per performance.
4. Go out for a bike ride
On Sundays, the Muévete en Bici ride takes place. From 8:00 am to 2:00 pm you will be able to ride your bike or roller skates along streets such as Paseo de la Reforma. As part of this activity you will find the bike school, where you will learn to ride on two wheels or improve your cycling technique. In addition, there are physical activations in some parts of the route.
5. Take a walk through the Desierto de los Leones
Believe it or not, there are places in CDMX where we don’t roast because of the heat. A good example of this is the Desierto de los Leones, an extensive Verde area where you can do activities such as mountain biking, hiking, running, visiting the former convent or having a picnic with the family.
Around the small lake there are structures for you to cook. You can also stop by one of the restaurants in the Zone.

6.Visit a archaeological Zone
In CDMX there are many archaeological sites you can visit, such as the Templo Mayor, Cuicuilo, Tlatelolco and Cerro de la Estrella, where you will find what remains of a pyramid and even a museum. Take advantage of your free time and learn more about our history.
7. Spend the day at Xochimilco
In this town hall there is always something to do. You can go spend the day on the trajineras, tour the Xochimilco Ecological Park you can also go to one of the markets to buy plants, visit the Archaeological Museum of Xochimilco or visit the handicraft markets.
8. Arrange a picnic
Bring your tablecloth and basket. We recommend La Hormiga Children’s Park, in the first section of Chapultepec Park, where there are also playgrounds. The second section of the forest is not far behind, as it has extensive green areas where you can forget the stress of the city.
9. Meet the Michin Aquarium
This aquarium opened its doors at the end of 2023. It has three levels, two of which are dedicated to marine animals and other species. The third floor has several attractions such as mini golf, bowling, climbing walls and much more. On weekends it tends to get crowded, so we recommend arriving early.

10. Go to a buffet

12. Sightseeing in CDMX with Capital Bus
Take advantage of Sunday to take a tour of the CDMX. They will take you to the most emblematic sites of Mexico City such as the Monumento a la Revolución, the Zócalo and much more. The best part is that the tour is a double-decker bus. The cost is $255.52 for adults and $236.60 for children.
13. Have fun in the Marquise

14. Get to know the activities of the Casa del Lago

15. Dive into Rancho Magico
This place has attractions for young and old, and it’s in the CDMX! It has a zip line for children and adults, a bowling alley (where you can get into a giant sphere), archery, bounce houses, a maze, a ball pool, a tractor circuit and even areas where you can observe animals.

16. Have breakfast on a terrace
Nothing better than starting the day with a dessert and a cup of coffee while observing the CDMX from the heights. A good option is Finca Don Porfirio, with a direct view of the Palacio de Bellas Artes. However, we recommend you to go early because it is always crowded. Opens at 11:00 am.
17. Get on the karaoke bike
don’t know what to do on Sunday in CDMX and want to test your musical talent? This is a good option. This is a project in which they take you on a bicycle through a park while singing.
Each weekend they perform in a different park. They announce it through their Instagram. It’s free to get on.
18. Practice ecotourism
It seems that the CDMX only has buildings, but it is not so, there are places where you can breathe fresh air and practice activities such as hiking, climbing or camping. Such is the case of the San Bernabé Ocotepec Ecotourism Park, located in the Magdalena Contreras district.
Another option is the San Nicolás Totolapan Ejidal Park, which offers zip lines, tractor rides and even a panoramic tour. The cost of the activities ranges from $40 to $120. It is located on the Picacho Ajusco highway, km 11.5.
19. Eat rich in Santa María la Ribera
This Zone of the CDMX has many unmissable restaurants, such is the case of Coyota. His specialty is Mexican food, which combines contemporary with ancestral cooking techniques.

20. Get to know the new spaces in Chapultepec
Chapultepec is undergoing a new lease of life. At the beginning of 2023 he inaugurated Amphibium the axolotl museum, where you will see and learn more about these emblematic animals. It is located in the zoo, right where the elephants used to be.
