To embark on this new adventure, you won’t need to spend hours on the road or spend too much on tolls or gas. Here are two “Pueblos Mágicos” you can reach by train from Mexico City.
The first is Metepec, in the State of Mexico. You can reach this destination by taking the El Insurgente Intercity Train. Alternatively, you can visit Tepotzotlán by taking the Suburban Train.

Metepec
To reach this destination, head to the Observatorio, Vasco de Quiroga, or Santa Fe stations, all of which are located within Mexico City. Get off at the Metepec station. From there, you can take major roads, such as Av. Independencia, which will lead you to the town center.
Price: The cost depends on the station where you board; if you start from Observatorio, the fare is $80. This is the maximum fare you’ll pay (one way), so a round-trip ticket will cost $160. Note: From the Metepec station, you’ll need to factor in other forms of transportation in your budget to reach the places you want to visit.

Tepotzotlán

How to get there from Mexico City: board the Suburban Train at the Buenavista station and get off at Cuautitlán. This one-way trip will cost you $26.50, so a round trip will cost $53.
