Some enmoladas and a pie to remember at the Villa Casona Mexican restaurant in Mexico City!
This place is just like a rustic-style mansion that opens its doors to treat us to the flavors and traditions of Mexican cuisine. From breakfast through lunch, a wide variety of dishes are served, blending corn, salsas, moles, and a wealth of family history.
The menu offers everything from tongue tacos (our favorites), molletes with chilaquiles, and tacos gobernador, to classic diner fare like pork rinds in sauce, chicken with mole, and Aztec soup. The perfect way to finish is with a selection of traditional pastries and desserts: the ever-present rice pudding or the cheesecake that’s been on the menu for over 20 years.
Villa Casona has two locations in Mexico City: one in the Narvarte neighborhood, on Uxmal, and another in San Pedro de los Pinos. These are ideal spots for diners looking to venture beyond the Roma-Condesa area.
- Uxmal 303, Narvarte Poniente, Benito Juárez.
- 3 Calle 25, San Pedro de los Pinos, Benito Juárez.

One family, one kitchen
The restaurant was founded in 1998 and has been run by the Saavedra Cuevas family since 2002. Its name encapsulates the business’s philosophy: warmth, familiarity, generosity, and dedication.
Under the direction of executive chef Sergio Arango, the menu has evolved without losing its home-style flavors. It’s worth noting that this is an ideal restaurant for a family meal; it includes a kids’ menu for the little ones and a play area at the Narvarte location.
Ingredients sourced from Mexico
One of the restaurant’s cornerstones is its connection to local production: 95% of its ingredients come from Mexico, through agreements with national suppliers that guarantee quality. The drink menu includes tamarind and hibiscus mezcalitas, as well as traditional concoctions and coffee.
Monthly festivals
The Mexican restaurant Villa Casona organizes food festivals to celebrate the diversity of our culinary culture. Among the highlights are Mole Month, Corn Month, Lent, the Meat Cuts Festival, the Enchilada Festival, and the Chili Festival.
