We have excellent news for science lovers and also for those who are nostalgic and still remember the CFE Technology Museum. After a long wait, the renovated Chapultepec museum, now known as MUNET, is reopening its doors.
According to the venue’s official website, the now-renamed National Museum of Energy and Technology is the result of a transformation of the former MUTEC, which opened in 1970 and focused primarily on electrical energy.
Little was known about this venue since its closure in late 2015; however, on July 1, 2026, it reopened with a surprising tour.
According to the Cultural Information System, the permanent exhibition is divided into four main galleries:
- The first gallery covers the basics of electricity.
- The second gallery explores fossil fuels and nuclear energy, detailing their origins, extraction, and the fission process.
- The third gallery is dedicated to solar and wind energy.
- The fourth gallery focuses on bioenergy, geothermal energy, and hydroelectric power.
In addition to these permanent areas, the museum features temporary exhibition halls that offer an immersive experience in a darkened environment, ideal for interacting through sensory experiences with the different energy sources that power a city.
It also offers services such as workshops, guided tours, lectures, Wi-Fi, a restaurant, a café, valet parking, parking, a coat check, and a gift shop.
You can visit it Monday through Sunday, from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. It is located in the Second Section of Chapultepec Forest, with entrances on Av. Grande del Bosque 1 and Av. de los Compositores s/n, in the Miguel Hidalgo borough.
