Have you already received any? On July 19, a new 20-peso commemorative coin was put into circulation to commemorate the 500th anniversary of the first Villa de Colima. We tell you what it looks like and where you can get it.
The first thing you need to know is that this new 20 peso coin has face value and is legal tender, so you will be able to use it to buy and make payments. That is, you can use it like any other of the currencies we currently use.
what does the new 20 peso commemorative coin look like and where to get it?
According to a press release from the Bank of Mexico (Banxico), this coin has a diameter of 30 millimeters and is bimetallic. On the reverse you will find the image of the King of Coliman, who is accompanied by two little eating dogs (also called dancing dogs).
The image is complemented with a representation of the Colima volcano and the text “Colimotl”. On the obverse is the National Coat of Arms. It is worth mentioning that this coin has a dodecagonal shape.
Among its characteristics is a latent image with the number 20, as well as the legend “500 years of the foundation of the first Villa de Colima”, which you can see on the reverse of the coin. Here it is:
