The commitment to electromobility in Mexico City continues to grow. Two new electric transit routes will soon begin operation, connecting various points in the southern part of the capital and aiming to offer a more sustainable alternative for thousands of users.
One of the new routes will be El Chapulín, a route that will depart from Chapultepec and run to Universidad. The route will travel along Circuito Interior, strengthening connectivity between strategic areas of the city using electric vehicles that will help reduce pollutant emissions and improve urban mobility.
The new route is part of projects aimed at modernizing public transportation in Mexico City through cleaner and more efficient technologies. In addition to facilitating daily commutes, these initiatives seek to promote a more environmentally friendly mobility model.
The Wild Animals Route will extend to Huipulco
Another of the announced projects is the Ruta de los Animales Silvestres, which will depart from Universidad and run to Huipulco. The route will pass through Santa Úrsula Coapa and takes its name from the endemic species that inhabit the area.
The goal is to highlight the environmental and natural identity of this part of the city, integrating elements of conservation and appreciation of the local environment into the public transportation system.
For now, no information has been provided on when El Chapulín and the Ruta de los Animales Silvestres will begin operating. However, it has been announced that they will arrive soon as part of the mobility improvements planned for the 2026 World Cup, when Mexico City will welcome visitors from around the world.
