Get ready to journey through the universe without spending a peso! The 2026 Night of the Stars in Mexico City will take place on Saturday, November 14, featuring telescopes, workshops, experiments, and activities for the whole family. One of the venues will be the Museum of Natural History and Environmental Culture in Chapultepec.
From 6:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m., the museum will become a gathering place for anyone curious about the cosmos. There will be stargazing sessions, talks, science demonstrations, fun activities, dance, and music. Admission is free!
What will you be able to see during Night of the Stars 2026?
One of the main attractions will be stargazing through telescopes. And there’s good news: throughout November, you’ll be able to see various celestial objects, weather permitting.
The Moon will be in its waxing phase, a favorable condition for making out some of its craters and landforms through telescopes. A chance to discover details about our natural satellite!
Another highlight will be Saturn, which will be visible above the horizon throughout the event. Depending on the power of the telescopes and sky conditions, its famous rings may be visible.
The visibility of these objects will also depend on light pollution and the equipment available. Therefore, specific sightings cannot be guaranteed.
Where else will Night of the Stars take place in Mexico City?
Chapultepec won’t be the only venue! The astronomical celebration will also take place at other locations throughout the city.
At UNAM’s University City, activities are scheduled from 3:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. There will be planetariums, telescope observations, experiments, lectures, workshops, and musical performances. Admission will be free.
Another option is the IPN’s Luis Enrique Erro Planetarium, where there will be stargazing sessions, workshops, science talks, and musical activities. The announced hours are from 4:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., also with free admission.
Night of the Stars is a science outreach celebration that began in Mexico in 2009 and brings together experts, institutions, and astronomy enthusiasts.
