This October, Zacango Ecological Park will offer a night tour that promises an experience filled with shadows, mysterious stories, and secrets from the past. If you’re looking for something different to do this Halloween season, this activity in the State of Mexico might interest you.
The event will take place on October 23 and 24, from 6:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. The cost is $400 per person, and space is limited, so advance registration is required.
Did you know that Zacango was once a hacienda with centuries of history?
Before becoming an ecological park, Zacango was an old hacienda whose origins date back to the colonial era. During the 16th century, its lands were inhabited by Franciscan friars and later passed into the hands of a family linked to the Counts of Santiago de Calimaya.
But that’s not all. The hacienda also served as a resting place for miners traveling from Sultepec, Temascaltepec, and Zacualpan on their way to Mexico City. It even witnessed the passage of Zapatista groups during the Mexican Revolution.
With so many centuries of history, it’s no surprise that this place was chosen as the setting for an experience inspired by tales of the past, shadows, and mysteries.
In 1980, the site entered a new phase with the opening of Zacango Ecological Park. However, it still preserves part of the old hacienda’s main building, whose rooms have been converted into offices, educational spaces, and galleries.
Now, during the nighttime tour on October 23 and 24, this history will serve as the backdrop for an activity that invites you to discover Zacango’s most mysterious side.
