If you have recently walked through Mexico City’s Historic Center, you have surely seen some of the pieces that will be part of the nopal exhibition in the Zócalo. We tell you everything we know about it and when you can visit it!
The Plaza de la Constitución was filled with nopales during the first days of 2026, as part of the exhibition “Nopalera en el corazón”, which will celebrate Mexican art.
Each of the pieces is in the shape of a nopal cactus and were intervened by different artists and collectives. You will find different designs during your visit. We recommend you to go with time because the exhibition is extensive: it has 200 nopales.
When can I see the nopal exhibition in the Zócalo of Mexico City?

The exhibition was inaugurated this Friday, January 9 at 10:30 am. If you want to be among the first to see it, we recommend you to go this weekend. The exhibition will remain until February 8.
Each nopal represents something different and has a unique design showing the talent and creativity of each artist. It is outdoors so don’t forget to bring a hat or cap to protect you from the sun. Although some of the pieces were exhibited in other spaces such as Paseo de la Reforma, most of the nopales you will see are new designs.
