This weekend marks the inauguration of the iconic mega ofrenda installed in the courtyard of the Villa Flores grandparents, in the municipality of Gustavo A. Madero. The altar is exhibited to the public and beyond preserving the traditions of the Day of the Dead, it holds a precious history.
The installation of this ofrenda is a family tradition that has been maintained for more than twenty years. It is dedicated, mainly, to grandparents Ana Flores and Alberto Villa.
Year after year, their descendants prepare months before the Day of the Dead to set up an altar containing the classic elements: candles, water, marigold flowers and salt, to name a few.

Among the most important pieces are the handicrafts, where pottery and cartonería stand out. Why? Grandfather Alberto Villa dedicated his life to these crafts and it is a way for his family to honor his memory.
It also includes crafts from other Mexican states, such as Veracruz, Puebla and Oaxaca.
Inspired by love and unity, the Villa Flores family has maintained this tradition that they share with neighbors, tourists and the general public. Every year the grandparents’ patio is dressed in color with a mega ofrenda.
This year 2025 you can visit it from October 18 to November 2. Admission is free!
