The Palace of Fine Arts Museum will celebrate its 90th anniversary in a big way! Did you know that this precinct was the first art museum in Mexico? It was inaugurated on November 29, 1934.
Now, the Ministry of Culture of the CDMX, through the National Institute of Fine Arts and Literature and the Palace of Fine Arts Museum will carry out different cultural activities to celebrate everything that has been achieved in this cultural precinct.
For 90 years it has managed to maintain a program of temporary exhibitions of artists from different regions of Mexico and the world, in addition to having a publishing house that disseminates research on national and international art. Since its inauguration it has hosted 1,298 exhibitions in total.
The Museo del Palacio de Bellas Artes also has a permanent collection of 18 murals created by José Clemente Orozco, Diego Rivera, David Alfaro Siqueiros, Rufino Tamayo, Jorge Gonzáles Camarena, Roberto Montenegro, Manuel Rodríguez Lozano and Rina Lazo.
Activities at Bellas Artes for the 90th anniversary
From November 26 to 30, Bellas Artes will celebrate its anniversary with different activities in the mural area of the most famous venue in Mexico City.
- November 26 at 6:00 p.m. – Talk Alan Glass, Surrealism and the Cosmic Egg.
- November 27 at 6:00 p.m. – Concert with Big Band Jazz.
- November 28 at 6:00 p.m. – Talk Conjugar en futura.
- November 29 at 12:00 noon – Concert by 2ContrabajoS
- November 29 at 4:00 p.m. – Presentation of Mariachi Real de Jalisco and Choir of the Ballet Folklorico de Mexico de Amalia Hernandez.
