An astronomical event that coincides with the flowering of numerous plants and the arrival of spring is about to happen, we tell you all about the Pink Moon and when it can be seen in CDMX!
This full moon happens right after the spring equinox and for many cultures it also marks the arrival of Easter and different religious festivities around the world.
Why is it called this way?
The striking name of Pink Moon was attributed by different tribes originating in North America, who had the custom of nicknaming all the full moons that appeared throughout the year. This season’s was so named because of a flower that grows during the first days of April and covers the soil of this region.
This full moon is special because it occurs at the beginning of spring in the north, at the beginning of winter in the south, as well as coinciding with the arrival of Easter.
It is important for you to know that although it is called Pink Moon, it will not acquire that characteristic color. However, due to the particular sunset during this season, it may be that the sky remains partially illuminated by the satellite, giving the sensation that the moon is painted in some reddish tone.
But that’s not all! Although it won’t be painted pink, it will look brighter and bigger, offering a stunning visual spectacle anyway.
