Can you imagine being able to see up close the stars, planets and all the bodies that make up the universe? You don’t need to be an astronaut. These planetariums in CDMX and Edomex offer projections, activities and exhibitions that will make you feel in space.
These planetariums have high technology in their projections and are considered iconic spaces of the CDMX, especially for all its history. Did you know that in the city is the first planetarium that opened in Mexico? Let’s get to know it.
1. Luis Enrique Erro Planetarium
It is considered the first planetarium opened in Mexico and one of the oldest in Latin America. It opened its doors in 1967 and since then it has become a must-see place in CDMX. You can enjoy projections and other activities related to astronomy, it even has a constellation room.

2. Cosmic
This new immersive space is the new experience created by CasaBASH in the Roma. Upon entering, an alien spacecraft will abduct you to meet otherworldly beings and travel at the speed of light to new dimensions. Travel through our solar system in a room with mega projections and go through a galactic storm with colors and shapes that will surprise you.

3. Joaquín Gallo Planetarium
This planetarium is located right in the Parque de los Venados and is part of the Astronomical Society of Mexico. It offers shows on Saturdays and Sundays at different times.
They have shows about the Mayas, the constellations, the Earth and Mayan Archeastronomy, among other topics. You can check the program through social networks. The cost per show is $30; students with ID, seniors and people with disabilities pay only $20. Details of the screenings that will be held that weekend are published on Fridays.

4. José de la Herrán Planetarium
Did you know that the Universum has a planetarium? In this space you can see celestial objects through a digital projection. Three themes are offered: “Today’s night”, “Night of the month” and “Movies” (with themes related to space). It is suitable for children over 6 years old.

5. Utopia Libertad Planetarium
Speaking of planetariums in CDMX you’ll be happy to know there’s a new one. It’s located in Utopia Libertad and offers 360° projections. It will also have workshops and even telescope activities on certain dates. It is named in honor of engineer Katya Echazarreta, considered the first Mexican woman to go into space.

6. Fundadores Science Park
This planetarium is not in Mexico City, but in Toluca, State of Mexico. It opened its doors at the end of 2021 as part of the Fundadores Science Park and has the possibility of connecting with other planetariums located in various parts of the world.
In addition to functions, it offers temporary activities and events related to space. Its main attraction is the 360-degree digital dome.

7. Chimalhuacán Planetarium
It is considered the second largest planetarium in Mexico. In the dome you can see shows on different topics such as black holes. Although the projections are its main attraction, it is important to mention that it has other spaces and activities about astronomy that you will surely love.
