CDMX was set to host one of the most anticipated experiences of the summer: an immersive Daft Punk experience and cinema under the stars. However, the experience has been cancelled, here’s why!
PLEASURES × Daft Punk Experience, an immersive installation created in collaboration with the iconic streetwear brand and the legendary French duo would be visiting the city as part of an international tour that would also visit Paris and Los Angeles, and promised to honor Daft Punk’s cultural legacy from a local perspective.
The CDMX experience was scheduled for July 17-20 at Centro de Cultura Digital and consisted of an immersive pop-up with augmented reality, digital art and interactive elements inspired by the group’s visual and sonic history.
A second complementary activity had also been announced: the screening of Interstella 5555 at Estadio Alfredo Harp Helú, an animated film that fuses the music of the Discovery album with a unique visual narrative.
Why was the Daft Punk immersive experience cancelled?
Recently the Digital Culture Center issued an official statement informing that the experience has been cancelled.
The reason? The necessary permits for one of the projections contemplated within the program were not delivered, which prevented the event from taking place in their facilities.
The cancellation has generated disappointment among fans of the duo and lovers of digital culture, who were looking forward to this double activation in the Mexican capital.
For now, it has not been confirmed if the Interstella 5555 screening will continue or if the experience will be relocated to another venue in the city. We recommend you to stay tuned to the organizers’ official channels for future updates.
