If you enjoy historical exhibitions and immersive experiences, mark your calendar because the Pompeii exhibition has already opened its doors in Mexico City. The exhibition comes directly from Florence, Italy, and features archaeological artifacts, sculptures, and material evidence that reveal what daily life was like in one of the most fascinating cities of the Roman world.
The venue will be the UNAM Palace of Autonomy, right in the heart of the Historic Center, where visitors of all ages can explore different rooms dedicated to the Greco-Roman world and the history of the eruption of Vesuvius that destroyed Pompeii in the year 79 AD.
A journey to the heart of Pompeii without leaving Mexico City
The exhibition features household items, decorative elements, sculptures, and everyday objects dating back nearly 2,000 years. Thanks to these archaeological finds, it is possible to learn details about the diet, customs, trade, and social life of Pompeii’s inhabitants before the tragedy.
One of the most striking moments of the tour is the section dedicated to the eruption of Vesuvius. Here you can see reproductions of some of the bodies found during the archaeological excavations, as well as an immersive video experience that recreates the city’s final moments before it was buried under volcanic ash.
The complete tour lasts approximately 45 minutes and aims to prompt reflection on the fragility of life and the memory of ancient civilizations.
